President Joe Biden visited New York City Thursday to address the rising crime rates and took the opportunity to blast the Second Amendment. His visit, however, gave protesters the opportunity to express their “F**k Joe Biden” sentiments by infiltrating MSNBC’s news coverage of the President’s trip with “Let’s Go Brandon” flags.
Biden’s trip, in theory, was to discuss a “comprehensive strategy to combat gun crime” with Mayor Eric Adams. The trip followed an emotional week of two funerals for NYPD officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora who were shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call last month.
While NBC’s White House correspondent Mike Memoli was covering Biden’s trip in NYC, MSNBC host Craig Melvin asked him, “What do we know about what the president has to say today?”
“There are really three pillars to the president’s crime strategy that he is eager to talk about here in New York today,” Memoli said as two Biden protesters stood behind him. One with a large “Brandon,” flag and another who had handwritten on their umbrella “save our city” and “f**k you.”
The man holding the “Let’s go Brandon” flag in the background was a young, minority male; not an “old white guy” that the Democratic party claims all Republicans, or anyone who dare show discontent with a Democrat, are.
Fox News explains the history of the “Let’s Go Brandon” slogan:
“Let’s Go Brandon” began as an internet trend in October after NBC reporter Kelli Stavast interviewed NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brandon Brown. In the background, crowds could be heard chanting “F— Joe Biden,” but Stavast claimed the phrase was actually fans cheering “Let’s go, Brandon.” It has since been used as a euphemism for “F— Joe Biden” to mock Biden as well as the media who excused vulgar attacks against former President Trump.
