Vice President Kamala Harris departed for Europe today to meet with officials as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine intensifies and millions of refugees flee the war-torn country for places like Poland and Moldova.

“Kamala Harris’ trip to Poland comes amid diplomatic turbulence over fighter jets. Poland planned to transfer its Russian-made fighter planes to a U.S. base in Germany with the expectation they’d be given to Ukrainian pilots, but the Pentagon rejected that,” reports the Associated Press.

“Poland is not a side in this war,” said Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Wednesday, adding, “Such a serious decision like handing over planes must be unanimous and unequivocally taken by by all of the North Atlantic Alliance.”

“This fighter jet situation is a messy deal, and Harris will have to go there and smooth things out,” added a former US Ambassador to Poland. “There’s plenty of discussion on the way ahead that needs to be had with the Poles that is better to have in an in-person conversation.”

This is a developing story…
