According to a new bombshell report, President Joe Biden is allegedly doling out diplomatic positions in his administration to large Democratic donors with deep pockets in order to keep the money rolling in and ensuring future votes.
The nonpartisan watchdog group, the Campaign Legal Center (CLC) has analyzed Biden’s ambassadors abroad and reports that 60 individuals had a long history of donating major amounts of money to the Democrats before being chosen as ambassadors.
The report “The Donor-To-Ambassador Pipeline,” titled appropriately, details the ambassadors which held positions in banking, legal and lobbying industries had “limited or nonexistent credentials for foreign service,” yet Biden selected these appointees because all signs shows $400,000 in donations to the Democrats buys you an ambassadorship.
President Biden appointed these individuals in spite of clear legislation that “contributions to political campaigns should not be a factor” in the appointment of foreign service diplomats.”
The report explains the real issue with appointing major donors to high ranking positions is they’re simply not qualified and Biden is on the record stating “[n]obody, in fact, will be appointed by me based on anything they contributed,” promising he wouldn’t do that, and yet here we are.
A prime example of the donor-to-ambassador trade-off is Michael M. Adler, the Ambassador to Belgium, who was appointed to the position by President Biden in 2021 and according to the report “has no foreign policy experience and was running a hotel business out of South Florida prior to his nomination.”
The report stated “Adler is a generous political donor. He and his wife contributed over $300,000 to Democratic political committees in the ten years before he was nominated, and he served as national finance chair for President Biden’s 2008 presidential campaign. Most recently, he bundled at least $100,000 in contributions for President Biden’s 2020 campaign.”
The CLC concluded its report explaining, “The donor-to-ambassador pipeline has caused incalculable damage to public trust by creating a widespread perception that many diplomats are selected because of their campaign contributions, not because of their experience and skills.”
“The American people have a right to know that all public officials, regardless of whether they serve at home or abroad, are appointed based on merit, not because of how much money they donated to a President or candidates the President supports. It is essential that Congress and the executive branch work to end the donor-to-ambassador pipeline now to restore faith in American diplomacy.”
