A new report has found a large New England state on the verge of bankruptcy because of woke policies and sanctuary state status.
The Biden administration for years allowed the southern border to be wide open for illegal immigrants to flood into the United States yet now they claim that the Republicans are responsible for their terrible policies. Not so fast. When the Biden administration began, they were handed a secure border and then Biden appointed the “border czar” Kamala Harris who made matters worse.
Vice President Harris is now the Democrat’s presumptive nominee for president and she is receiving a wave of negative press for her role in the immigration crisis. The pressure is not just coming from Democrat run states along the border but many self-proclaimed sanctuary cities and states because of massive budget shortfalls due to massive amounts of taxpayer dollars directed towards illegal immigrants. According to a recent report, Massachusetts is nearing a fiscal cliff because of $1.8billion in spending covering the costs of the illegal immigrants in their state.
“These migrants represent a looming fiscal disaster for taxpayers in Massachusetts,” said the Director of Immigration studies Jessica Vaughan.
“Even if they are working, they are not equipped with skills and education to avoid being a drain on public coffers,” she asserted. Approximately 355,000 “illegal and inadmissible migrants” are currently accounted for living in the state of Massachusetts. Her report found a staggering increase of 50,000 illegal migrants arrived since 2021.
Massachusetts spend more than $1 billion on emergency shelters which are over capacity forcing the Democrat Governor Maura Healey to cap how many nights migrants are allowed to stay at 5 nights. This “Not In My Backyard” policy offered paid plane tickets and travel expense reimbursement in an attempt to relocate migrants elsewhere besides Massachusetts.
The blue states are begging the federal government for monetary assistance but have received very little.
Massachusetts not only felt the financial burden on housing the migrants but a large financial burden on their prison system due to a spike in migrant crime costing the state at least $27million per year.
