Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) joined Joe Pags to discuss his proposed legislation aimed at permanently codifying President Trump’s executive actions on border security. With the administration taking swift and decisive action, Gill emphasized the need to ensure these policies remain in place long-term, preventing future administrations from reversing them as President Biden did upon taking office.

Gill, who described his time in Congress as “a little surreal,” expressed his enthusiasm for the direction of the new administration, stating he is “thrilled to be a part of” taking the country back. Reflecting on Trump’s second term, Gill pointed to the aggressive leftist agenda over the past four years, citing legal attacks on Trump, open border policies, government overreach into education, and the forced implementation of woke ideologies. Despite expecting a strong response from Trump, Gill admitted the president has “exceeded every single expectation” with the speed and decisiveness of his actions.

Discussing the stark contrast between the Biden and Trump administrations, Gill highlighted the level of transparency now being provided. As a member of the Oversight Committee, he noted the frequent roadblocks under Biden, stating, “The Biden administration did everything it could to hide what was going on from the American people and from Congress.” In contrast, Trump has engaged directly with the press and ensured that Congress and the public receive real-time information on key issues.

A major focus of the discussion was Trump’s success in securing the U.S.-Mexico border. Gill pointed to the drastic reduction in illegal crossings, explaining that newly appointed Border Czar Tom Homan reported only a few hundred encounters in a 24-hour period, a sharp decline from the peak of 11,000 daily crossings under Biden. Declaring “promises made, promises kept,” Gill reiterated that Trump is delivering exactly what voters demanded, shutting down illegal crossings and reasserting control over border security.

Gill also tied the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) into the border issue, stating, “The left is learning that their gravy train is coming to an end.” With DOGE uncovering massive government waste, Gill argued that entrenched bureaucratic interests are scrambling to maintain power. Addressing the controversial role of USAID, he revealed that Congress is working to restructure the agency, explaining, “It looks like USAID is going to be, if not abolished outright, merged into the State Department and heavily rationalized.” He emphasized that Congress never had the authority to create unaccountable executive agencies and vowed to rein in wasteful spending.

In addition to border security, Gill discussed the federal budget process and the legislative steps required to implement Trump’s agenda. He explained how Congress is identifying savings and tax cuts to incorporate into the budget, acknowledging that the process will take several months as different committees consolidate proposals. However, he assured that Trump is fully committed to fulfilling his campaign promises, and Congress is working to provide him with the legislative support needed to solidify these reforms.

As the administration continues to advance its policies with unprecedented speed, Gill’s proposals underscore the effort to prevent future reversals and secure long-term victories for conservative governance. With Trump and Congress aligned, Gill remains confident that major legislative action is on the horizon.
