Lara Trump is making waves in both politics and media, but when faced with a choice between the two, she had to make a tough call—not once, but twice. In an exclusive interview with Joe Pags, she opened up about her decision to turn down a Senate seat, her powerhouse new Fox News show My View with Lara Trump, and her take on the media landscape. With her signature confidence and candor, she didn’t hold back.
Trump’s media presence is skyrocketing. Her new show just debuted with a staggering 2.4 million viewers, making it the highest-rated cable program of the weekend. Her interviews with major political figures, including Tulsi Gabbard, Pam Bondi, and Karoline Leavitt, are already generating buzz. But as she told Pags, the path she’s on wasn’t always the obvious choice.
“Whenever I really thought about what my life would look like if I were a United States Senator… I would have had to spend most of my week in Washington, D.C.,” Trump said. “My kids are five and seven years old. The most important job title I will ever have is ‘Mom.’”
It’s a decision that her father-in-law, President Donald Trump, wasn’t exactly thrilled about. “No one wanted me to become a Senator more than he did,” she revealed, laughing about how he’s reminded her of it time and again. “My father in law loves to say, ‘You are the only person who could’ve been a U.S. Senator twice and twice has decided not to become a U.S. Senator!’”
Instead of stepping into the political arena, Trump has doubled down on her media career, using her platform to provide what fans call a much-needed counterpoint to mainstream narratives. When Pags asked whether MSNBC viewers are tired of being lied to, pointing to the network’s declining ratings and recent shake-up—including the exit of Joy Reid—Trump simply responded, “Ratings talk.”
That ratings gap is becoming harder to ignore. While Fox News continues to dominate cable news rankings, CNN and MSNBC have been struggling. Trump explained why she thinks viewers are turning away from legacy media: “They just can’t trust you.”
Beyond media and politics, Trump also spoke about her relentless work ethic. From launching a new show to balancing family life and even releasing a new single—yes, she’s a singer too—she credits hard work and discipline for her success. “Everything I’ve done, I’ve worked really hard for,” she said, dismissing the idea that she was handed anything.
Lara Trump is proving that she’s a force to be reckoned with—whether in politics, media, or entertainment. While she’s not ruling out future opportunities, for now, she’s laser-focused on bringing a fresh perspective to the news and shaping the conversation in a way that resonates with millions.
