Authorities have arrested Morgan Geyser, the convicted “Slender Man” stabber, after she fled a supervised group home in Madison, Wisconsin. Officials say she cut off her electronic monitoring bracelet Saturday evening, triggering an immediate multi-state manhunt.

Geyser had been living in the facility under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections as part of a conditional release arrangement. She was last seen leaving the home with an adult acquaintance before disappearing, prompting police to issue an alert warning that she was unlawfully at large.

Her case drew national attention in 2014, when Geyser and a friend lured a classmate into the woods and stabbed her 19 times. The victim survived, and Geyser was later found not guilty by reason of mental disease. She was ordered to psychiatric confinement for up to 40 years and spent years in a state mental health institute before moving to a less-restrictive facility.

Police confirmed that Geyser was captured Sunday night in Illinois, approximately 24 hours after her escape. Officials have not yet released details on how she was located, but her return to custody ended the brief manhunt and restored her status under state supervision.
