Academic Who Criticized Trump and Moved to Canada Now Admits U.S. Housing and Healthcare Beat Canada’s Systems

A woke liberal Los Angeles woman who describes herself as a “scholar of the far right” faced scrutiny as hilarity ensued when she posted a video online admitting Canada was worse than the United States; she publicly fled the U.S. after Trump was elected into office for the second time.

After announcing that she had “fled” the United States for Canada, Nope Brigade, an academic who researches conservative and right-wing movements, recently relocated from Los Angeles to Vancouver, citing concerns about the current Trump administration.

In a video shared on social media, Brigade appealed for assistance and “help” after discovering that living costs in Canada were even steeper than she anticipated. “For those who don’t know, the housing crisis here is way worse than the US,” she said in the video. “I lived in LA for six years and I have not faced rent as bad as here.”

Brigade explained that she, her partner, and their pets entered Canada on visitor visas, which do not permit employment. Although they arrived with savings, she said those funds are rapidly diminishing as they struggle to keep up with soaring rental prices.

“In Canada, I think the cost of living crisis is worse here,” she said. “Especially when you are shut out of the healthcare system and can’t access any of the resources that Canadians have access to. And that’s understandable, I’m not a citizen of the country, but it is making the financial situation dire.”

After outlining her circumstances, Brigade asked followers if anyone could offer housing, noting they were seeking more than a single room and hoping for free or below-market accommodations.

The request quickly drew deserved criticism from both Americans and Canadians online. One TikTok user wrote, “Ma’am, no matter what happens please stay there. Signed, the United States of America,” prompting a Canadian to respond: “You kidding? We don’t want her either!”

“All I heard was a lot of criticism regarding the place you chose to flee to, then after the criticism was the request for money,” another outraged user wrote.

Others taunted Brigade, a ‘scholar’ for failing to research Vancouver’s high cost of living in advance. The city is considered Canada’s least affordable housing market and ranks among the most expensive in the world.
