Conservatives spent years warning that Joe Biden’s mass-parole pipeline was not a compassionate paperwork exercise — it was a body count waiting to happen. In a small Alabama town, that warning came true, and two American families are now burying the people they loved because of it.
Breitbart News reports that Andrii Dmyterko, a non-English-speaking Ukrainian national, was one of hundreds of thousands of migrants granted “humanitarian parole” by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security in 2024. That same year, the administration handed him a work visa — and with it, permission to climb behind the wheel of a semi-truck on American highways despite the fact that he could not read the road signs.
The result was as predictable as it was horrifying. On May 6, 2025, Dmyterko blew through a red light while distracted on his cellphone and slammed his rig into the cars stopped in front of him. The wreck, caught on dash-cam, killed 53-year-old high school coach Woodie Earl Beck III and 37-year-old Ashley Marie Springer McDonald. Beck leaves behind his wife, Tiffany, and their four sons. McDonald leaves behind three sons of her own. Let that sink in: seven boys lost a parent so that Washington could pad its parole numbers.
Here is the part that should make every American’s blood boil. Last week Dmyterko pleaded guilty to two counts of criminally negligent homicide — and will serve just two years in an Alabama prison for taking two lives. The case nearly stalled out for months because prosecutors could not even find a Ukrainian translator for the man Biden’s DHS had cleared to operate an 80,000-pound truck.
The Trump administration is not mincing words about how he got here. “This alien from Ukraine was paroled into our country by the Biden Administration,” DHS spokeswoman Lauren Bis said. “Now, because of his reckless driving behind the wheel of a semi-truck, two people are dead. He has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal negligent homicide.” Bis confirmed that ICE has lodged a detainer asking Alabama officials to hand Dmyterko over the moment his sentence ends so that the agency “can remove him from our country.”
That detainer is the only justice on offer here, and it exists because the adults are finally back in charge of enforcement. But it cannot undo the math. A man who should never have been paroled, never have been licensed, and never have been on that road was waved through at every step by an administration that treated the border as a suggestion.
This is what “humanitarian parole” looks like when the humanity is reserved for everyone except the Americans who pay the price. Woodie Beck and Ashley McDonald never got a vote on Biden’s immigration policy. They just got the bill. And until the people who built that pipeline are made to answer for cases exactly like this one, there will be more of them.
