Police in Ottawa cracked down on the ‘Freedom Trucker Convoy’ currently occupying the heart of Canada’s capital Monday; arresting at least seven people and issuing hundreds of tickets to protesters.
The move comes hours after Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson declared a “state of emergency.”
“ICYMI: 7 people arrested, 100 tickets issued in Demonstration-Related Enforcement @OttawaPolice has made multiple arrests in relation to several enforcement actions related to the ongoing demonstration. There are over 60 criminal investigations so far,” posted the police department.

“This is a siege — it is something that is different in our democracy than I’ve ever experienced in my life,” Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly said on Saturday. “We do not have sufficient resources to adequately and effectively address this situation.”

You can bet if the truckers were doing anything criminal, it would be all over the news. Best they got so far is some people arrested. For what? They don’t say. Why? Because they are probably either the most minor of charges, like parking. Or they are trumped up crimes that will not stand in a court of law, but are an attempt to make the peaceful protesters look bad. Kudos to those truckers that are doing something instead of just talking about it. I wish them every success in Canada, and every other country where people are recognizing and standing up to tyranny!
