Chicago witnessed another weekend of historic bloodshed over the last 72 hours with gunfire leaving at least 31 people injured and six people dead in the nation’s third largest city.

“The nearly two-dozen shootings occurred between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) said. Of the seven fatal incidents, six people died from shootings while one succumbed to a stabbing,” reports Fox News.

The 31 shooting victims are believed to have ranged in age from 17 to 61, although police records did not specify two of the victims’ ages. A 28-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times during a domestic incident inside a building on West Walton Street near North Homan Avenue, CPD and sources said. Police arrived at the scene just before 6 p.m. Sunday,” adds Fox.

Radical Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blamed the current crime wave sweeping Chicago on the neighboring state of Indiana.

“There’s no discussion about gun violence in Chicago without talking about Indiana, because the violence and the mothers that we have to comfort are losing children due to the guns and the carnage and the lawlessness unleashed by those states,” explained AOC.
