Biden’s self-inflicted border crisis has reached unsustainable levels and we’re now seeing an 850 percent increase in illegal immigration across one sector of the Canadian border leaving the Border Patrol scrambling.
As the new session of Congress begins, investigations are underway into all things Biden and illegal immigration takes center stage. Calls for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign or be impeached are echoing the halls as the border crisis continues to worsen. The Border Patrol agents are spread extremely thin along the southern border as result of the Biden administration policies and now we’re seeing unprecedented levels of illegal migrant encounters at the northern border.
In a memo issued by Border Patrol Assistant Chief Juan E. Garcia obtained by Fox news, the agency is “seeking volunteers from the Northern and Southwest Border sectors to temporarily detail additional personnel to SWB to increase detection and custody operations, transportation, and flight line security operations.”
The SWB area is in reference to the Swanton Sector of the United States/Canada border encompassing New Hampshire, Vermont and parts of eastern New York where Garcia has reported an increase of 846 percent of illegal migrant encounters compared to last year.
In a tweet from Sector Chief Garcia, “Illegal crossing of the Canada/U.S. border in sub-freezing temps continued last week, as #BorderPatrol Agents apprehended 115 subjects from 12 countries–mostly Mexican nationals. Unfortunately, perilous weather has done nothing to deter this traffic. Don’t risk it!”
In January, Border Patrol apprehended 367 illegal migrants which sounds like a small number when compared to the southern border, but when compared to prior years, is a staggering increase. If you added the prior 10 years of January’s illegal migrant encounters together, it only adds up to 344.
Because of the harsh winter conditions seen in January at the northern border, this sector usually sees a dramatic reduction, not a dramatic increase. The Swanton Sector was not the only part of the border to see an increase, all sectors of the northern border has seen an increase in illegal migrant encounters since October, pushing the Border Patrol to the edge.
