A Department of Justice employee has been arrested in Texas on state terrorism charges after allegedly doxxing a federal agent during a law enforcement raid in Brownsville, Breitbart reports. Karen Olvera De Leon, who works for the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Texas, faces charges stemming from a June 9 incident, which also includes tampering with physical evidence. During that raid, bystanders livestreamed the operation on social media, where users made threatening comments, including a death threat against the federal agent involved. Moments later, another commenter revealed the identity of the agent, an act known as doxxing.

Authorities tracked the social media activity back to Olvera De Leon, leading to her arrest by Cameron County investigators. She was booked at the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, with a judge granting her release on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond, meaning she did not have to pay upfront but would owe the court if she misses future appearances.

The incident comes amid a tense climate in South Texas, as federal agents, especially those with ICE and Border Patrol, have been targeted by threats and violence related to immigration enforcement. Just one month after the doxxing occurred, a separate shooting incident targeted a Border Patrol facility near McAllen, Texas, resulting in a violent confrontation with law enforcement.

According to Breitbart, “a lone gunman in tactical gear stormed a U.S. Border Patrol building next to the McAllen International Airport, Breitbart Texas reported at the time. In that case, the gunman fired numerous shots at law enforcement and into the building. McAllen Police and Border Patrol agents clashed with the gunman and eventually killed him. One police officer was wounded in the shootout.”
