Former first lady Hillary Clinton found herself on the receiving end of online ridicule Tuesday after blasting President Trump’s new White House renovation — a $250 million ballroom expansion on the East Wing.

“It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it,” Clinton posted on X, sharing an image from The Washington Post showing demolition work underway.

Critics were quick to remind her that the Clintons’ own history with the Executive Mansion was far from spotless.

“Yes, between selling nights in the Lincoln Bedroom to donors and her husband’s tutelage of the interns in the Oval Office, if anyone treated the WH as sacred it was the Clintons,”
— journalist Mark Hemingway, on X.

Hemingway was referring to Bill Clinton’s infamous Oval Office scandal and reports that the Clintons accepted large donations in exchange for overnight stays in the Lincoln Bedroom.

Former White House staffer Alex Pfeiffer added a dose of sarcasm:

“A Clinton would never defile the White House.”

Others recalled the $28,000 in furnishings and tableware the Clintons took with them when they left in 2001 — items later determined to belong to the White House’s permanent collection.

“I remember when the Clintons stole the people’s furniture,” tweeted columnist David Harsanyi.

Even some journalists noted the hypocrisy, pointing out that nearly every president has made renovations — including the Clintons themselves.

“Almost every president has done renovations to the White House, including the Clintons, who did a big spread in House Beautiful in 1993 about theirs,” reporter Salena Zito wrote.
“The East Wing façade is just that — a façade — added in 1942 under FDR.”

Meanwhile, Eric Trump fired back directly at Hillary with a jab at her family’s much-criticized Haiti relief efforts:

“The ballroom will be spectacular… unlike your work in Haiti.”

The new White House State Ballroom — expected to hold up to 650 guests — is set for completion before Trump leaves office in 2029.

According to the White House, the entire project is being privately funded, costing taxpayers nothing.

White House spokesman Davis Ingle didn’t hold back when asked about Clinton’s comments:

“Failed presidential candidate and former first lady Crooked Hillary Clinton stole furniture from the White House on her way out until she was forced to return it. Crooked Hillary is shameless and a total disgrace.”

He added:

“Meanwhile, President Trump is restoring the White House to its proper glory for Americans to enjoy for generations to come — at no expense to the taxpayer. That’s something we should all celebrate.”
