Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) is under humiliating scrutiny after allegedly bypassing other passengers, including those in wheelchairs, at a boarding gate in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. According to Fox News, the incident was highlighted by House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain, who posted photos on social media and accused Crockett of abusing her power with a police escort to cut the line.
“SPOTTED: Jasmine Crockett with a taxpayer-funded police escort, cutting everyone in line — even making DISABLED people wait. Nothing to see here, just the next leader of the Democrats, abusing her power!” McClain, R-Mich., posted on her personal campaign account on Sunday, Fox News reports. The post sparked outrage among McClain’s supporters, with some calling Crockett “evil.”
According to sources, Crockett boarded a Delta Air Lines flight to Washington, D.C., ahead of all other passengers, reportedly accompanied by a police officer and a staff member. Department of Transportation guidelines require airlines to allow passengers with disabilities to board first. However, Crockett reportedly boarded the plane before two passengers in wheelchairs.
Crockett’s office declined to comment on the incident when contacted by Fox News.
The controversy comes as Crockett, currently the vice ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, is reportedly seeking the committee’s chairmanship. She has also been vocal in her criticism of former President Donald Trump, who recently insulted her during an NBC interview, calling her a “low IQ person” and referring to her as the future of a Democratic Party he described as “in disarray.”
Previously, Crockett faced conservative backlash for comments made during a commencement speech at Tougaloo College in Mississippi, where she referenced the 2023 Montgomery, Alabama brawl. In her speech, she encouraged graduates to “know how to use a chair,” alluding to the viral incident where a folding chair became a symbol of resistance.
“There are people that are going to tell you that there is not a table in which there is not a seat for you, but I am here to remind you of Montgomery and those folding chairs. Let me tell you that we know how to use a chair, whether we [are] pulling it up or we doing something else with it,” Crockett said.
Crockett’s remarks were criticized by some Republicans, including Sen. Mike Lee of Utah who said the comments were “not cool.”
