The Kentucky politician fended off a fight from Florida Senator Rick Scott.
“We underperformed among independents and moderates because their impression of many of the people in our party in leadership roles is that there’s chaos, negativity, excessive attacks — and it frightened independent and moderate Republican voters,” Mr. McConnell told reporters on Tuesday.
“I think the most important thing we can do is get these differences behind us,” said Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas and a McConnell ally.
This is the correct move for a republican party in chaos. Moscow mitch is a savvy politician, he’s been around a loooong time, and he was proven right when he said there was an issue with “candidate quality” in the 2022 midterms. Having said that, this man is a crooked liar. I cannot believe the people of Kentucky keep voting for this horrible person. Kentucky remains one of the poorest states in the union, below average in health care, education, and environmental protection. Federal funding makes up nearly half of the state’s budget. For every dollar Kentucky pays to the federal government, they receive (take) $1.68 in federal funds. This is pretty typical with red states, though. Eight of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government traditionally vote republican. I know you right wingers like to bash california, but they, along with new york, do a lot to support the failing economies of red states.
