Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan has once again shown his disdain for American patriots and pro-Israel voices, laughing along as a guest mocked a disabled U.S. combat veteran who sacrificed his legs in Afghanistan. The Washington Free Beacon reports, the disgraceful moment happened during an anti-Israel conference in Dearborn, Michigan — a city long criticized for its strong pro-Hamas activism and dubbed by some as “America’s Jihad Capital.” Hasan’s guest, Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef, took aim at Florida Republican Rep. Brian Mast, who lost his legs while serving his country, sneering that Mast “lost his balls and his honor” for supporting Israel and proudly wearing an Israel Defense Forces uniform on Capitol Hill after Hamas’ brutal October 7 attack. Hasan joined in the mockery, calling Mast “one of the most racist people in Congress,” prompting laughter from the audience. Mast, a steadfast supporter of Israel, didn’t hold back in responding. He warned Hasan and Youssef that if their “terrorist friends” heard their disrespectful interest in him, “they may be thrown off a building” — a pointed reference to how Hamas treats people it views as enemies. The ArabCon conference itself was a showcase for far-left, anti-Israel rhetoric. Radical activists openly praised Hamas and even defended its October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians. Zahra Billoo of the Council on American-Islamic Relations praised leaders tied to a charity funding Hamas while vilifying Jewish Democrats who support Israel. Moderator Amer Zahr, a former Bernie Sanders campaign surrogate, mocked the idea of condemning Hamas, and one panelist bluntly stated she “never condemns Palestinian resistance or anyone’s resistance around the world.” Hasan himself claimed Palestinians have the “right to resist” — a common euphemism for armed attacks — though he insisted such actions should target combatants only, not civilians. Hasan’s tenure at MSNBC was marked by relentless bias against Israel and sympathetic framing toward Hamas, a terror group responsible for brutally murdering Israelis and Americans. His show was canceled in late 2023 after years of “one-sided, often inaccurate coverage of Israel’s war with Hamas.” Neither Hasan nor the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee responded to media requests about the incident. This recent episode highlights a troubling pattern among certain segments of the American left: excusing or even celebrating acts of terrorism, while ridiculing individuals who have fought and sacrificed for liberty.
