U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) announced the arrest of over 200 illegal migrants in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the first weekend of its enforcement initiative named “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” according to Breitbart. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified approximately 44 of those detained, revealing a range of serious offenses linked to them.
According to DHS reports, the charges against some of the migrants include aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a police officer, battery, driving under the influence, and hit-and-run incidents. DHS highlighted the dangers these individuals pose to communities and emphasized the need for stringent law enforcement.
A DHS spokesperson stated, “There is absolutely no excuse to continue allowing criminal illegal aliens to terrorize our American communities.”
“These are violent assailants, gang members, and repeat offenders who have zero regard for the rule of law in our country,” the spokesperson emphasized. “They are here illegally and should never have been here in the first place. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are REMOVING the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our communities once and for all.”
Among those arrested were known gang members including Manuel Vasquez-Gavarrete of the 18th Street gang, Humberto Pozada-Rodriguez from MS-13, and Leonel De Jesus Chinchea-Galvan—charged with aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon, and drunk driving—who had been deported at least once before.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, commenting on the operation launched November 15, underscored the necessity of protecting Americans from violent offenders illegally in the country. She highlighted the intensified DHS law enforcement presence in Charlotte aimed at safeguarding public safety and targeting sanctuary policies that she said allow these threats to persist.
‘Americans should be able to live without fear of violent criminal illegal aliens hurting them, their families, or their neighbors,” she said. “We are surging DHS law enforcement to Charlotte to ensure Americans are safe and public safety threats are removed. There have been too many victims of criminal illegal aliens. President Trump and Secretary Noem will step up to protect Americans when sanctuary politicians won’t.”
