Many incredible stories of humanity are surfacing from the invasion of Ukraine, including one in particular where a Russian soldier surrendered. The soldier not only surrendered himself but also his tank, over to Ukrainian troops. As a reward, the soldier was given $10,000 and a chance to have Ukrainian citizenship. The tank was a T-72B3 battle tank. Reportedly the two other soldiers with him escaped and his commanding officer threatened to shoot him. Daily Mail reports that the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Victor Andrusiv said the soldier, named Misha, had contacted Ukraine’s national police by phone in order to arrange a place to meet. “He didn’t see the point of war,” said Andrusiv about Misha. “We handed over the information about him to the GUR MO [Ukrainian military intelligence].”  Andrusiv continued to say “Misha said there was almost no food left, military management is chaotic and practically absent. Demoralization is colossal.” “The Russians are giving up!” he concluded. When Misha surrendered at the designated location, Ukrainians used a drone fitted with a camera to ensure it was not an ambush. Ukrainian state arms manufacturer Ukroboronprom has been offering huge cash rewards for obtaining Russian military equipment. $1 million dollars was offered for the capture of a battle-ready Russian aircraft. “To the pilots of the Russian Federation ready to participate in the program, we guarantee the issuance of citizenship of a free country,” the company said to any Russians willing to switch sides. They also offered $500,000 for every combat helicopter seized from Russians which could still be used.
