Over the past weekend, a second assassination attempt the life of former President Trump occurred at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida and according to U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, the Secret Service "is compromised" as faith in the agency continues to fall. Burchett is a Republican from Tennessee who sits on the House committee overseeing the investigation of the first assassination attempt against the former president and has demanded answers to how 'in hell" can anyone get this close to the president? In a recent interview with Fox News, Burchett told the outlet that colleagues on both side of the aisle are demanding answers for lack of security or inadequate resources to protect the GOP nominee for President. “And you got to ask yourself, why was there not a drone flying over wherever the president is? This is ridiculous,” Burchett said in response to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw who simply stated the security level is not that of a sitting president. You’ve seen the tweets that y’all are saying something about they need to learn how to aim better and things like that,” he stated.
“Those are the types of things that incite somebody who is on the edge. They know exactly what they’re doing. This establishment, the swamp, whatever you want to call it, it’s an open sewer. They have thrown down the gantlet. They know if Donald J. Trump is elected, their days are over,” he said before he began to focus on the Secret Service. “The problem is you’ve got a Secret Service, at least in my opinion, and in the public’s eye, that is compromised and that it lacks in leadership. And you’ve got great agents on the ground, obviously, one who took that shot,” he said. “But why in the world would anybody be anywhere near the perimeter of this? This line of sight that we talk about is just beyond me. So we’ve got to get some answers. I don’t think we’re going to get them during this administration, but hopefully, under the Trump administration, we’ll clean this rat’s nest out." “There is no way in hell that somebody should have been that close to President Trump with an AK Steel or AK-47 or whatever it was with a scope,” he said. “Everybody sort of knows his pattern. And I know he likes to play golf, and they know when he’s in Florida, he’s going to play golf. Dadgummit, they should have closed it off,” referencing the responsibility of the local law enforcement of Palm Beach. “They have the power to do that. They ought to do that. They’re going to come to us for more money. I think they need to quit with the DEI hires and start putting qualified people out there in decision-making positions instead of what they’re doing right now,” Burchett concluded.
