President Donald Trump charged on Sunday that Iran is waging a sophisticated disinformation campaign fueled by artificial intelligence, accusing Tehran of fabricating military victories through AI-generated images and videos, Fox News reports. The goal, he suggested, is to distort global perception and exaggerate Iran’s strength amid heightened regional tensions.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump alleged that Iran has been circulating AI-created footage — including false depictions of “kamikaze boats” striking U.S. vessels and doctored images of damaged American aircraft — while feeding this material to what he called the “Fake News Media.”
“The fact is, Iran is being decimated, and the only battles they ‘win’ are those that they create through AI, and are distributed by Corrupt Media Outlets,” Trump said.
He dismissed reports that several U.S. refueling planes had been hit and denied claims that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier sustained damage, calling them deliberate fabrications, according to the outlet.
Trump reportedly praised Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr for launching reviews of broadcast licenses for outlets accused of amplifying false or misleading information.
Speaking later aboard Air Force One, the president painted a stark picture of Iran’s weakened military, declaring that U.S. operations have “wiped out” much of its air defenses, air force, and missile capabilities. “If we left right now, it would take them ten years and more to rebuild,” he said. “But I'm still not declaring it over.”
According to Fox News, Trump said U.S. operations have left Iran with “‘no air defense whatsoever,’ and argued Iran’s missile and drone capabilities have also been sharply reduced.”
Trump emphasized that the United States and Israel remain tightly aligned in their strategy toward Iran, describing the two nations as “very well coordinated” and united in a shared objective.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi reportedly told host Margaret Brennan on CBS’s Face the Nation that President Donald Trump attacked Iran “because it is fun,” accusing the U.S. of launching an “illegal war.”
"We are ready to defend ourselves as long as it takes," Aragchi said. "There are people being killed only because President Trump wants to have fun... they are sinking ships and targeting different places because it is fun."
