Federal law enforcement agents in Portland, Oregon, weren’t playing around Wednesday night when a mob of masked protesters tried to blockade an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility — and they shut it down fast with tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash bangs. Video from Turning Point USA’s Frontlines shows chaos erupting outside the Macadam Avenue ICE compound, where hundreds of agitators rolled a dumpster in front of the entrance, hurled fireworks, and launched smoke grenades at officers. Despite multiple warnings to disperse, the left-wing mob stood its ground — until law enforcement brought the heat. “Last night, Portland rioters violently targeted federal law enforcement — 250 rioters launched fireworks, shined lasers in officers’ eyes to temporarily blind them and stormed an ICE field office,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Ultimately, five individuals were arrested on various charges including assault on federal law enforcement. We won’t sit idly by and watch these cowards.” Rioters chanted “Whose streets? Our streets,” while waving keffiyehs and holding signs like “Nobody is illegal on stolen land.” But DHS wasn’t interested in their slogans — only restoring order. Officers in riot gear responded with non-lethal munitions from rooftops, forcing the mob to scatter. Portland Police arrested two more individuals, including a 22-year-old caught aiming a laser pointer at officers and a 19-year-old armed with a shield, charged with trespassing. PPB clarified it doesn’t participate in immigration enforcement — just public safety. McLaughlin said assaults on federal officers have skyrocketed 413%, and under Secretary Noem’s watch, “If you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Portland may think it’s a sanctuary city — but last night proved it’s not a sanctuary from the law.
