On Wednesday, President Biden reiterated is desire to ban all assault weapons in the United States before the new Congress is seated next month.
Many lawmakers have shown little desire to ban assault weapons in recent months but according to Biden, he would like to put greater pressure on lawmakers to change their minds and get something done before Democrats lose control of the House.
At a recent vigil for victims of gun violence Biden said, "We did it before. We did it, and guess what? It worked ... We can do it again."
The vigil at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Washington was organized by the "Newtown Action Alliance," which began after the tragic shooting in 2012 at the Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut where 20 first-grade students and 6 adults were killed by a gunman using an assault rifle.
