In a recent CNN segment, a near-shouting match ensued during a panel discussion regarding Kamala Harris’ lack of interviews and transparency with the media.

Bakari Sellers of CNN discussed the lack of interviews with political commentator S.E. Cupp and Tricia McLaughlin, who ran communications for former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.  Since the launch of the Harris campaign for president, she has not done one interview to discuss why President Biden dropped out of the race and why she deserves to take his place on the ticket. Rather than answering the tough questions, Harris has only spoken in public during campaign rallies, sticking to a repeatable script over and over.

According to political commentator Cupp, former president Trump set a “trap” for Harris by his long press conference on Thursday where he took hours of questions from all media outlets.  However, Sellers believed that interviews aren’t necessary in order to gain more votes.

“Don’t nobody care about us, about somebody taking questions,” Sellers boasted.

“No, I speak to swing state voters all the time. They have questions, they want answers … because when fans ask them Bakari, when friends ask them, when surrogates ask them, they’re not getting the real answer,” Cupp answered astonished.

Sellers continued to argue with the panel believing that answering questions from an interviewer is not as important as attending rallies and gaining momentum on the ground from supporters. Cupp quickly replied that if the situation was flipped, Sellers would absolutely be demanding that the Republican candidate be answering tough questions.

“You will lose, and you’re not the only person to make this argument that she doesn’t need to do this. It’s very inside the Beltway, this is for us. You lose credibility when you do that. Because if it were someone else, you would be demanding that they sit down for questions. And you know what? It will make her a better candidate if she does it.”
