Billionarie Elon Musk has had enough of San Francisco and decided to move X headquarters to Texas citing the extremely poor living conditions in the city.

Twitter now X began in San Francisco but new CEO Elon Musk decided to move to the lone star state because in order to protect the long term health of the company, the move was inevitable.  Musk has publicly stated he had “no choice” but to relocate the headquarters of X.

According to Musk, the “last straw” was when the California legislature passed a new gender identity law.

“Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas,” Musk said deciding to move both X and SpaceX.

The New York Times reported, “In the email, which X’s chief executive, Linda Yaccarino, sent to employees on Monday, the company said workers would move to existing offices in San Jose, Calif. X will also open an engineering-focused office in Palo Alto, Calif., which it will share with xAI, the artificial intelligence outfit owned by Mr. Musk, the email said.”

“This is an important decision that impacts many of you, but it is the right one for our company in the long term,” Yaccarino wrote in her email to staff.

Ever since Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, the building has remained relatively unoccupied. “The company has skipped rent payments to Shorenstein, the real estate company that manages X’s office building at 1355 Market Street. X also tried to cut costs by turning some of the space into bedrooms for traveling employees,” reported the New York Times.

Musk has said the city was “in a doom spiral” and to preserve the overall longevity of the company, they had to leave.
