The walls are closing in on Wisconsin Democrats, and this time the person holding the flashlight is one of their own. According to a Democratic whistleblower, top Wisconsin Democrats knew for a year that a convicted child sex offender was serving as a party official and managing campaigns, and they said nothing, Townhall reports.

The man at the center of the scandal is Diego A. Rodriguez, the vice chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s Latino Caucus. Rodriguez was also the campaign manager for Democrat State Assembly member Priscilla Prado, who is running for reelection this year. When his record became public last week, both the state party and Prado fired him. But according to Townhall, party insiders already knew about his criminal history, kept him in place anyway and even considered running him for the State Assembly.

The whistleblower is not a Republican operative. He is a Democrat. Waukesha Alderman Rico Camacho, who is running for the Assembly in the 82nd District against Republican Bryson Reyes, says he warned party leaders nearly a year ago.

“It is with disappointment that I make this statement publicly: Upon learning of Mr. Rodriguez’s criminal past in November of 2025, I distanced myself, advised others to do the same, and warned colleagues about Mr. Rodriguez’s criminal history, and those warnings went unheeded,” Camacho said in a news release.

Let that sink in. A sitting Democrat raised the alarm in November 2025, and the response from the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee and the state party was silence. According to the report Townhall cited, party leaders allowed Rodriguez to keep his caucus post, manage two Democrats’ campaigns and knock on doors for several others. Camacho alleged the party stayed quiet about the potential danger Rodriguez posed to children he would come into contact with on the campaign trail.

A caucus title. Two campaigns to run. Doors to knock on. That is the work Democrats let a convicted child sex offender do in their name, while the people who knew stayed quiet until the story broke.

Then there is the hypocrisy. Back in July, Francesca Hong, then the presumptive Democratic nominee before the state party turned on her, launched her first major ad buy, and it called Republican Tom Tiffany an “Epstein pedophile protector.” Democrats were happy to throw that label at a Republican in a paid ad. Behind the scenes, their own party apparatus was keeping quiet about a convicted sex offender.

Firing Rodriguez after the public found out is not accountability. It is damage control. Accountability would mean answering the question Camacho has now put on the record: who in the Democratic Party of Wisconsin heard his warning in November 2025, and why did they decide it was not worth acting on?

This is a window into how a political machine works when winning matters more than the people it claims to protect. A warning came from inside the house, and the party chose to bury it. Wisconsin voters, and especially the families whose doors Rodriguez knocked on, deserve to know who made that call.
