A recent massive surge of illegal immigration has forced the Biden administration to shut down major trade routes and railways between the U.S.-Mexico border further demonstrating to the American people that the border is in chaos and the Biden administration has no clue how to handle it.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced along the border through Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas, three bridge railway shipping lines were closed “in order to redirect personnel to assist the U.S. Border Patrol with taking migrants into custody.” Because the Biden administration has let illegal immigration reach critical levels, international shipping routes had to be shutdown which severely impacting several companies with ripple effects throughout the country.
According to Ian Jefferies, Association of American Railroads (AAR) President and CEO “The urgency of reopening these crossings and restoring rail service between the two nations cannot be overstated. Every day the border remains closed unleashes a cascade of delay across operations on both sides of the border, impacting customers and ultimately consumers.”
These shipping routes are operated 24 hours a day and the entire United States relies upon their goods being delivered. AAR, Union Pacific and BNSF were the shipping companies most affected and these routes constitute a major pathway into the United States without a viable alternative.
“There isn’t enough capacity at our other four gateways to reroute them,” said Union Pacific in a statement. “The longer this closure is in effect, the more difficult it will be for cross-border trade to resume.”
Consumer goods that will be severely impacted if the closures continue would include agricultural products, chemicals, auto parts, fully assembled cars, food and beverage products, and commodities such as cement and metals.
By closing simply three crossings, Jefferies explained all railways become affected because “all carriers interchange goods across the North American rail network.”
Illegal migrant encounters at the southern border have increase under the Biden administration to the highest levels ever recorded and yet the administration claims the border is secure?
