The Biden administration will deploy roughly 1,500 soldiers to the United-States Mexico border once the Title 42 policy ends in May, reports Fox News.

Title 42 was enacted by Donald Trump in March 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into the US from Central American migrants.

“The U.S. soldiers would come from a variety of active duty Army units and would serve in mostly administrative and transport roles to free up law enforcement and Border Patrol, according to two senior U.S. officials familiar with the deliberations,” reports Fox News.

“Officials said the troop deployment would be similar to deployments to the border ordered by former President Donald Trump. The troops would be armed for self-defense but would not assist with law enforcement,” adds Fox.

This is a developing story.
