In Chicago’s Lincoln Square area, an unidentified man used his legal concealed carry weapon to prevent a burglary from occurring.
According to reports from Fox 32 Chicago, a 40-year-old man was inside a closed and locked business just before midnight when he heard loud noises coming from the rear of the store. He then went to the back door only to find an 18-year-old suspect trying to break down the door and gain entry. It was at this point where the man drew his gun and shot the teenager in the leg.
The man called police and an ambulance who took the teen to Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment where he remains in police custody as he waits for arraignment on attempted burglary charges.
The Chicago crime rate continues to rise and it was announced today that the Democratic National Committee will hold its 2024 convention in the city where security concerns will be high. Its expected that the convention will bring upwards of 50,000 people to the area which is great for the city but a major stress on an already overworked and underfunded Chicago Police Department.
Despite the record crime rates in Chicago, the Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson insisted that convention move forward as planned. Many residents of Chicago have expressed concerns about the crime rate and many businesses have since relocated out of the city because of the constant fear of vandalism. The outgoing Mayor Lori Lightfoot gave the solution of businesses not carrying cash, which could possibly be the worst advice ever given, stressing an already tight business economy even more.
“We have been in Little Village working with those street vendors, understanding what the nature of the crime is, making sure that we’re doing things in concert with them to help them make sure that their money is secure, not use money, if at all possible, using other forms of transactions to take care of themselves,” Lightfoot said which sparked intense backlash from residents and business owners who saw her remarks as a complete detachment from reality and a lack of empathy for her struggling city and those affected by violent crime waves.
“Someday, historians will untangle one of the biggest mysteries that we’re living through, which is why would our leaders want to make our society more dangerous? Why do they want more rape and armed robbery and murder? Clearly, they do want that,” Fox News host Tucker Carlson commented stunningly showing his complete contempt for the current Chicago government.
