In a recent announcement from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, he unveiled a “huge” reconciliation package plan should he win the 2024 Presidential race which includes some major Republican policy platforms.

During an interview with New Hampshire radio host Hugh Hewitt, DeSantis pledged to end the border crisis, repeal any of the Green New Deal policies enacted under Biden, get the economy going again by passing a reconciliation package in a speedy manner which eliminates the possibility of a filibuster.

“We are going to have a huge package for reconciliation that is going to cover a lot of different things,”  DeSantis said in the interview. “Obviously we are going to shut down the border. We are going to do the border security. That is just point one. We have got to get that done. Two, we are going to repeal Biden’s disastrous economic policies, his Green New Deal. And we are going to have things that are going to help jumpstart this economy, things like full expensing so that we have more ability to produce manufacturing.”

When it comes to immigration policy, DeSantis has been quite outspoken and has send the national guard to help assist the surge after Title 42 ended, a choice made by President Biden. He has also shipped illegal immigrants from Florida to many other states so the rest of the country understands how difficult this situation has become.  Last week, DeSantis also visited the southern border to see first hand how porous the border is and hear the needs of Border Patrol.

DeSantis has also been very critical of Biden’s handling of the economy particularly his energy policies which he has said was a major factor for the staggering rise of inflation.  During an interview with Fox News’ Trey Gowdy, DeSantis announced he would reverse the Biden energy policy or lack thereof, encouraging innovation and energy independence at the core of his administration.

“I have always rejected the politicization of the weather and I think what we should be doing in the United States is focusing on being energy-independent and making sure that we are utilizing the resources,” DeSantis said in the interview. “When you have market-based solutions and when you innovate, in Florida we have seen emissions go down dramatically in the last 10 years, but that is through market and innovation.”
