At a recent news conference in San Benito, Texas, the Governor Are Abbott has created a new position in state government to deal with the immigration crisis, the state’s first “border czar.”

Mike Banks was appointed to the newly created position by Texas Gov. Abbot to rectify the destruction caused by the federal government.  Under Joe Biden’s failed leadership, the border has seen record surges in illegal border crossings and crime in the communities. In 2022 alone, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered a staggering 2.3 million migrants trying to enter the country illegally.

Banks worked for the Border Patrol for more than 20 years and according to Abbott,“Texas, we’re standing not idly by while the Biden administration refuses to enforce our immigration laws.”

“He has a proven record of going toe to toe with the cartels and winning. Now, he will bring that winning record to help protect Texas from Biden’s open border policies,” he said.

The new “border czar” position will manage the construction of new border walls and will coordinate state resources along the border with a partnership with private landowners.

“For me, the number one priority is to make Texas the number one priority is to make the state of Texas the least desirable place for illegal immigration to cross,” Abbott said.  “I don’t think it’s gonna be that difficult. I’m gonna apply the applicable laws that are out there that should be applied within my ability.”

Abbott is obviously fed up with the lack of response from the supposed Federal Border Czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, who has yet to address any root causes for surge in immigration.  The Governor in response to the surge, has sent many illegal migrants to cities across the U.S. and to the doorstep of Washington D.C. trying to bring attention to the crisis at the border and in his state.
