An illegal immigrant convicted on nine counts of sexually assaulting teenage girls at a Fairfax County, Virginia high school is expected to spend only about 140 days behind bars, following sentencing this week, according to Breitbart

Israel Flores Ortiz, a nearly 19-year-old from El Salvador who was enrolled at the school, received a 360-day jail sentence along with two years of probation. However, the judge credited him for time already served, significantly reducing his remaining time in custody.

The case drew attention in March after roughly a dozen female students accused Ortiz of groping them in school hallways. “This 18-year-old criminal illegal alien should not have been attending a Virginia high school and allowed to prey on innocent teenage girls,” the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Lauren Bis said, according to Breitbart. “Following his criminal convictions for nine counts of assault and battery, we are once again calling on Governor Spanberger and her fellow sanctuary politicians to not release this sexual predator from jail back into our communities to victimize more innocent women.”

“This is yet another example of the Biden Administration’s failed open border policies,” Biz added.

Officials at the school were reportedly aware of the allegations for more than two weeks before notifying parents, raising concerns about how the situation was handled. According to Breitbart, “Fairfax County High School Principal Georgina Aye sent the letter to parents on March 12, claiming Ortiz is accused of “‘inappropriately touching other students.’”

After Ortiz was initially charged, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano supported his release from custody, but a judge ultimately denied that request. Federal immigration authorities say Ortiz crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in 2024 and was released into the country. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has since filed a detainer, seeking to take custody of him once his jail term ends.

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger (D) has declined to step in to prevent Ortiz from being released back into the Fairfax County community after his sentence is completed, according to the outlet.
