A new report from Fox News finds Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was told no Haitian migrants were “whipped’ by Border Agents hours before he held a press conference in which he described the images as “horrific.”
NEW: Email reveals DHS Secretary Mayorkas was alerted by DHS' top public affairs official that the "whipping" narrative behind horseback BP photos wasn't true, but at a WH press conference 2.5 hours later, he didn't refute that narrative, instead calling the images "horrifying". pic.twitter.com/Qyfy2NBkNo

“Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was told that the photographer who captured a clash between Border Patrol agents and Haitian migrants in Del Rio had said that the incident was being misconstrued — hours before Mayorkas joined a White House press conference where he didn’t challenge the false narrative,” reports Fox News.
“In fact, agents were using split reins to control their horses as migrants rushed across the river. But a narrative, based on a misinterpretation of photographs, was running and on Sept. 24 was further fueled by President Biden,” adds Fox.
“To see people treated like they did, horses barely running over, people being strapped — it’s outrageous,” Biden told reporters at the conference. “I promise you, those people will pay. There will be an investigation underway now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences.”
“Our nation saw horrifying images that do not reflect who we are. We know that those images painfully conjured up the worst elements of our nation’s ongoing battle against systemic racism,” Mayorkas said.
