Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen concocted a new argument in favor of abortion this week, telling lawmakers overturning Roe V Wade would have a “damaging effect on the economy.”

“The ability to have full control over reproductive health has real-world economic consequences,” claimed Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez. “Secretary Yellen, if the draft of the court’s majority holds, what impact would the loss of abortion access mean?”

“The right of women to make decisions about when and whether to have children would have very damaging effects on the economy and would set women back decades. Roe V Wade helped lead to increased labor force participation. It enabled many women to finish school,” explained Yellen.

“It allowed women to plan their families and careers!” she added.
