The 2022 midterm attack ads almost write themselves. But, in case you’re having trouble visualizing, here’s Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) sharing a preview on Twitter:
“2021: Oil prices up. Gas prices up. Natural gas prices up. Propane prices up. Heating bills up.
Money in your bank account? Down. Thanks, Democrats.”

Gas prices continue to climb higher and higher, despite President Biden’s intervention last month, tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
“The GasBuddy forecast…projects prices at the pump will peak nationally at a monthly average of $3.79 in May, before finally retreating below current levels by late 2022,” CNN reports. “We could see a national average that flirts with, or in a worst-case scenario, potentially exceeds $4 a gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of analysis at GasBuddy, an app that tracks fuel prices.
Right now, gas is hovering around $3.29 a gallon, down 13 cents from the $3.42 peak back in early November. Meanwhile, Christmas Day gas prices marked the highest ever recorded for the holiday, hitting an average of $3.26 a gallon nationwide but clearing $4.50 in some parts of California.
#ICYMI, gas prices on Christmas Day 2021 were the HIGHEST ever recorded on that day, at a little over $3.26/gal. Though still breaking records, #gasprices have declined 20¢/gal since early November. pic.twitter.com/N4ccihoYOD
