Joe ‘Pags’ Pagliarulo blasted leaders in New York City Tuesday after leaked documents show the city government making COVID decisions based on skin color.
“They basically said we’re a bunch of racists that will be racist and bigoted against White people, but we’re not really being racist against White people. The whole story was we’re going to prioritize Latinos and Blacks because of inequities,” said Pags.
“At the end of the story, they say, ‘But we’re not really going to do that, it’s not really about racism,” he added.
Recently released emails show the Mayor’s office prioritizing minority communities for free COVID testing facilities.
“New York City health officials have been using race to help decide how to allocate precious coronavirus testing resources, leaked emails from the agency show,” reports the New York Post. “In a conversation with reps for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, City Councilman Joe Borelli’s office said.”
“Our office has been receiving calls regarding the mobile NYC H+H testing sites such as Wolfes Pond Park. It appears many are waiting with delays, and are being turned away after waiting for hours,” wrote Borelli staffer Briana Nasti.
