Former President Trump was arraigned in a Miami federal court today on 38 counts of retaining “national defense information” and obstructing justice.  Trump claims that he has been targeted at all costs to make sure he doesn’t win the presidency in 2024.

The FBI raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate and recovered classified documents to which Trump claimed he was complying with all requests from the Federal government.  In a recent poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, a shocking 81% of Republicans believe that this indictment is politically motivated.

The poll showed 91% of Democrats believed he illegally stored classified materials after leaving the White House, while only 35% of Republicans believe that to be the case.

President Trump appeared before U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon for the Southern District of Florida and pleaded “not guilty” to all charges against him.  Notably, Judge Aileen Cannon was appointed by President Trump during his time in office.

After pleading not guilty to the charges, the former president vowed to never drop out of the race for president.

According to the poll, 81% of Republicans believe that these indictments are politically motivated, but only 43% of the Republicans actually support Trump’s reelection campaign and 22% of Republicans are now leaning towards Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.

The Reuters poll surveyed 1,005 respondents through June 9 to June 12 and states a margin of error of plus or minus 4% of all respondents and 6-7% margin of error for Republicans.
