President Trump delivered an absolutely devastating takedown of French President Emmanuel Macron during a White House lunch Wednesday, exposing the stunning weakness of our so-called NATO allies when America needs them most. The President didn’t hold back, brutally mocking Macron’s troubled marriage while revealing France’s pathetic refusal to support our military operations against Iran, according to the New York Post.

“I call up France, Macron – whose wife treats him extremely badly,” Trump said with characteristic directness, referencing viral footage of Brigitte Macron slapping her husband. “Still recovering from the right to the jaw.” This is the kind of strong leadership America voted for. Trump tells it like it is, even when it makes weak foreign leaders squirm.

The President then detailed his conversation asking for French naval support in the Gulf, where American forces are setting records destroying Iranian missiles and taking out terrorists. Macron’s response? A cowardly refusal delivered in what Trump perfectly mimicked as typical French weakness: “No no no, we cannot do that, Donald. We can do that after the war is won.” This is exactly why President Trump is absolutely right to consider withdrawing from NATO.

European leaders have disgracefully barred America from using military bases during our monthlong conflict with Iran and refused critical naval support to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump rightfully called the transatlantic alliance a “paper tiger” because that’s exactly what it’s become under decades of failed leadership. When Macron weakly complained Trump’s remarks weren’t “elegant,” he proved once again why America needs leaders who put strength over politeness.
