While the Federal Bureau of Investigation tried to downplay the cause and religious correlation to Saturday’s hostage situation at a Texas synagogue, two teenagers in England have already been taken into custody in connection.

The New York Post reports the two teenagers were arrested in the UK Sunday as part of the investigation into the hostage-taking incident of a rabbi and three congregants of the synagogue.

Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British national held the victims hostage while he live-streamed and demanded the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a female Pakistani neuroscientist with ties to the terror group al Qaeda.

Siddiqui is currently in federal prison in Texas, charged for attempting to kill U.S. Army officers in Afghanistan. It was not immediately clear what the connection is between the two British teenagers and the hostage crisis at the Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas.

All hostages are safe after the 10-hour stand-off between Akram and law enforcement which ended in the FBI fatally shooting Akram.

President Biden has declared the situation an “act of terror” but added authorities “just don’t have enough facts” yet to determine why Akram targeted the Texas synagogue. Biden also spoke with U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

After the conversation, Biden said, “we are focused. The attorney general is focused. I’m making sure that we deal with these kinds of acts.”

The FBI and Associated Press have been chastised for their comments, shying away from terrorism and the clear religious aspect.
