Only minutes before President Biden’s address to the nation was a U.S. military base in Iraq attacked demonstrating how weak and ineffective our 80-yr-old commander-in-chief appears before the world.
On Thursday evening, President Biden addressed the nation in attempt to continue the justification of funding for Ukraine at the same time asking for support of Israel. According to the Daily Mail, just before his address, numerous rockets were fired at a military base outside Baghdad airport.
At this time, it is unclear whether or not the base sustained any casualties as an anti-rocket system activated immediately to protect the base.
Ahmed Rasheed, a journalist for Reuters, posted footage of the attack:
This attack is only one of many attacks on U.S. military forces throughout the Middle East because of the war in Gaza. Fox News has reported numerous drone attacks targeting U.S. military forces. “In the last 24 hours, the U.S. military defended against three drones near U.S. and Coalition forces in Iraq,” Fox News reported. “In western Iraq, U.S. forces engaged two drones, destroying one and damaging the second, resulting in minor injuries to Coalition forces. Separately in northern Iraq, U.S. forces engaged and destroyed a drone, resulting in no injuries or damage. We are continuing to assess the impacts to operations.”
“An attack on a military base in southern Syria where U.S. troops have maintained a presence to train forces as part of a broad campaign against the Islamic State group,” was reported by the Associated Press.
Biden had very little to say about Iran’s involvement in the attacks rather declared that “American leadership is what holds the world together,” announcing he intended “to send to Congress an urgent budget request to fund America’s national security needs, to support our critical partners, including Israel and Ukraine. ”
“Iran is supporting Russia in Ukraine, and it’s supporting Hamas and other terrorist groups in the region. And we’ll continue to hold them accountable, I might add,” Biden said, trying to hold those accountable and not completely ruin his coveted Iran nuclear deal.
