President-elect Donald Trump met with President Biden in the Oval Office on Thursday but radio host Charlamagne Tha God wonders why such a warm reception?
In their public meeting, the two presidents shook hands and exchanged cordial remarks. Charlamagne Tha God questioned how such a meeting could be so calm and welcoming as the Democrats the past years have labeled Trump a threat to democracy.

“I just don’t understand the White House visit. Now granted, you know, I’m glad it’s a peaceful transition of power, but what happened to the threat of democracy talk? What happened to the fascist talk?” he asked. “By the way, I know I’ve said those things about Trump as well, but I’m not talking about me. I’m talking about his political opponents, like President Biden. When they say it, it holds way more weight than me. I’m just trying to figure out, how do you go from, ‘He’s an existential threat to democracy’ to ‘Welcome back?’”
His co-host DJ Envy observed that the meeting between the presidents was a “happy” occasion.
“I’m just trying to figure out how,” Charlamagne said. “I understand President Biden believes in political norms, but damn.”
“Don’t y’all find it strange that now that he’s won, they’re not calling him a threat to democracy? They’re not calling him a fascist. I mean, damn, on Monday, they was just calling him that,” Charlamagne asked. “I would think that, you know, if you really believe that, then somebody’s speech would be about how America ‘effed up and how things are about to be really bad. It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe, or how much of it was just politics. That’s all.”
Biden told Trump that his administration pledged to implement a “smooth transition.” Trump responded,“Politics is tough. And it’s, many cases, not a very nice world, but it is a nice world today. And I appreciate it very much — a transition that’s so smooth, it’ll be as smooth as it can get. And I very much appreciate that, Joe.”
“You’re welcome,” Biden said with a grin on his face.
