Control under the auspices of science is continuing on for the Biden administration, which will extend mask wearing for travel. According to a White House official and a Transportation Security Administration official, mask-wearing on public transportation will continue at least through April 18.
Just before spring break hits, TSA Administrator David Pekoske released a statement saying it collaborated with industry and federal partners throughout the pandemic “and now we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel as demonstrated by the rapid recovery of the travel industry.”
Nonetheless, the agency’s release offered ten tips for getting through YSA efficiently, including the first tip of “continue to wear a face mask.” NBC News notes that the mask requirement “has stayed in place even after the CDC announced a shift in Covid-19 guidance in February, saying most Americans are safe without a mask in indoor settings.”
The CDC’s guidance now focuses on the amount of hospitalizations as a direct result of the novel coronavirus, instead of the number of Covid-19 cases in order to measure the risk and determine guidance.
In addition to continuing to wear a face mask, TSA recommends the following tips to streamline travel. TSA “anticipates average daily passenger throughput will surpass 90% of pre-pandemic levels for the duration of March.”
Tip 1: Continue to wear a face mask
Tip2: Follow the rule that limits liquids
Tip 3: Pack food in a clear plastic bag
Tip 4: Leave prohibited items at home
