Prosecutors say a Wisconsin woman is accused of killing a former co-worker because of their support for President Donald Trump. In what investigators describe as a politically motivated attack, Christine Jones, 61, was allegedly shot and killed by 31-year-old Diamond Wallace.

According to WKOW, the Madison Police Department reported that Jones’ “body was found in a parking garage on W. Washington Avenue” on March 22. Police said Jones had been on her way into work at a Madison hotel when the shooting occurred. Investigators noted that Wallace and Jones previously worked together, but Wallace had been fired from her position in April of last year.

Wallace was taken into custody the day after the incident. Authorities also confirmed that “a gun was recovered from Wallace’s apartment,” which they believe is connected to the shooting.

Newsmax described Wallace as “a former co-worker with a grudge and a political vendetta.” Details outlined in the criminal complaint further suggest a possible motive, stating that Wallace had “… expressed animosity toward [Jones] for being a Trump supporter.”

Officials have not released additional information about any prior confrontations between the two women, but investigators continue to piece together the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter.

Wallace is currently being held on a $2 million bond as the case proceeds through the legal system. Prosecutors have not yet indicated whether additional charges could be filed.
