Yeonmi Park escaped the totalitarian nightmare that is North Korea to freedom in the United States. She describes her hellish journey from Communism to America.
“I can’t imagine a place being worse than China when it comes to civil rights and freedom. But there’s North Korea,” began Joe Pags. “When you’re raised in North Korea, do you have a concept of what freedom is?”
“No. Humans do not have the vocabulary or the concept. That’s why the dictator is obsessed with vocabulary. When I was in North Korea, I had no idea that I was oppressed,” explained Park.
“There’s no word for freedom and no word for love. The only love we’re allowed to know is for the dictator, not our families or our children,” she added.
