“Is this squatter situation happening in Los Angeles specifically or all over California?” asked Pags.
“This is all over the country,” explained Smythe. “What happens is transients, homeless people, illegal immigrants, whatever, they walk into your house and say that they live there now.”
“You can claim squatters’ rights so easily,” she added. “People move in, claim ownership, and it’s really limited about what you can do. It’s a whole legal process to get people out of your own home.”
