Preserve Democracy CEO Kelly Tshibaka weighed-in this week on Alaska’s recent transition to ranked choice voting; calling the decision a threat to Democracy at the local and federal level.
“We talked about this just before the election. The system is not a fair shake for the voter. It’s confusing,” began Pagliarulo.
“I don’t think Most Alaskans were prepared for this type of voting. We now have record low turnout,” explained Tshibaka.
“Rank choice voting causes voter suppression. We experienced it first-hand here in Alaska,” she added. “People found it too confusing. It’s too complicated. It causes a lot of distrust. There are too many errors.”
