An 18-year-old woman found fatally shot inside a Boston home owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., has been identified by her family, Fox News reports.
Boston police responded to a residence in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood around 1:52 p.m. Saturday, where they found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to police reports obtained by Fox News Digital. Police have not officially identified her, but her family named her as Yoseliani Marte in a GoFundMe campaign created by her mother, who wrote that her daughter was killed as a “result of domestic violence.”
According to public records, the two-family home is owned by Conan Harris, who has been married to Pressley since 2014. The couple does not live at the residence, which has been reported as a rental property, according to the Boston Herald, and the home is currently listed for sale at $1.15 million.
A spokesperson for Pressley’s office told Boston 25 News that neither the congresswoman nor her family were involved in the incident, and that Pressley extends her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones impacted by the tragedy.
Neighbors described a normally quiet street rattled by the large police response. “We got home and there were police coming down the street, they blocked off with crime tape over there and neighbors gathered around,” one neighbor told Boston 25 News. “I mean it’s sad, it’s really sad because you know this neighborhood is a wonderful place to be.”
Family and friends reportedly held a vigil for Marte on Sunday night. The manner of death remains under investigation, Boston police said.
