A Justice Department task force report released Thursday alleges that the Biden administration took actions that disproportionately affected Christians with traditional beliefs, outlining what it describes as a pattern of “anti-Christian bias.” According to Breitbart, the findings, published by the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias, claim federal policies, prosecutions, and enforcement practices under Biden often conflicted with religious expression.
According to the DOJ’s summary, those policies particularly impacted issues tied to “life, family, marriage, and self-identity,” where traditional Christian teachings diverged from administration priorities. The report argues that while private belief was largely tolerated, efforts to act publicly on those beliefs were more heavily scrutinized.
The task force, established under President Donald Trump through Executive Order 14202, was charged with reviewing prior federal actions. Its report emphasizes the historical role Christianity has played in shaping American political thought and institutions, while asserting that recent federal approaches undermined those traditions when they clashed with contemporary policy positions.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who chairs the task force, said the findings highlight harm done to religious Americans. He stated that no citizen should fear government punishment based on faith, adding that the department intends to continue investigating alleged targeting and to restore religious liberty protections.
One of the report’s central claims focuses on enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. It alleges that the Biden administration pursued nonviolent pro-life demonstrators more aggressively than individuals responsible for attacks on pregnancy resource centers, suggesting an imbalance in prosecutorial priorities.
The report also raises concerns about FBI activity, particularly an investigation conducted by the bureau’s Richmond, Virginia field office. According to the findings, agents examined individuals associated with traditional Catholic practices despite no evidence of criminal conduct. The inquiry reportedly relied in part on materials from the Southern Poverty Law Center and led to broader scrutiny of Catholics based on religious preferences, including adherence to the Traditional Latin Mass and views on social issues.
Separately, the DOJ has recently brought charges against the Southern Poverty Law Center, accusing the organization of fraud and money laundering, along with fabricating claims of extremism. These developments are cited in the report as part of a broader critique of how certain groups influenced federal assessments of religious communities.
The task force concludes that policy conflicts between the Biden administration and traditional Christian beliefs were most pronounced on issues such as abortion, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and that enforcement decisions often placed burdens on those practicing their faith in public life.
Following his return to office, President Trump pardoned more than 20 pro-life activists who had been prosecuted under the prior administration. Some of those individuals had received prison sentences tied to FACE Act violations and related charges.
Additional reporting highlighted controversial enforcement tactics, including early-morning FBI operations targeting activists, with some accounts alleging that individuals were detained at gunpoint in front of their families. Among those prosecuted, according to coverage, were elderly individuals, including a survivor of a communist concentration camp, several grandmothers, and a father of eleven.
